Jack Ng, owner of the China City Restaurants, celebrates the 10th anniversary of his purchase of the property on Scott Road in Freeland.
Ng invites the community to enjoy a complimentary buffet and soft drinks to help celebrate with free Chinese food from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at China City in Freeland.
The event will be a family affair with special activities for parents and children provided by Freeland?s Paint Escape.
Regular dinner service will begin at 5 p.m., with an evening of special entertainment at 9 p.m. with a flaming hula hoop show and a DJ.
China City was established in Oak Harbor 14 years ago; two years later, Ng opened China City restaurant in Langley in the Edgecliff Restaurant building.
Teddy?s restaurant was at the1804 Scott Road building in Freeland at the time, having been built 20 years ago by Roger Simmons.
Ng was alerted when the building was for sale and when he saw the impressive Victorian-style building, he bought it for his second China City restaurant.
Recently the building was remodeled and ?China City Center? now includes office spaces for 10 businesses upstairs, as well as the 10,000 square foot China City restaurant and bar downstairs, the largest restaurant on Whidbey Island.
China City features a variety of American-style Chinese food and is open for lunch and dinner, seven days per week. The lounge offers happy hour appetizers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
