Algal Research invites the international algal scientific community to publish papers in the areas of microalgae, macroalgae and cyanobacteria research, and their applications
Oxford, April 12, 2012 Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announces the launch of the new journal Algal Research.
In recent years there has been a resurgence of research in algae for applications to biofuels and coproduct development. This resurgence can be seen through the increase in publications in peer-reviewed journals and a plethora of news releases, funding opportunities, private investments, and conferences in this area. Algal Research offers international academic researchers in this field a new publication resource for their publishing their work.
Dr. Jos Olivares, appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of Algal Research said, "After the 1st International Conference on Algal Biomass, Biofuels and Bioproducts held St. Louis in July 2011 last year, it was evident that colleagues in the algal science community were clamouring for dedicated venues where the latest results from high quality research and innovation can be presented. This led to the creation a new international research journal dedicated to all aspects of Algal Research."
"Algal research is a growing field. I believe it's very important to nurture this growth by facilitating peer-reviewed communication. The journal will serve as an excellent platform for scientists to showcase their latest findings," Dr. Richard Sayre, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal added.
"With the launch of Algal Research we aim to provide a new channel to share knowledge, approaches and novel ideas in the vastly growing arena of algal science at a global scale," said Gilles Jonker, Executive Publisher at Elsevier. "I am delighted and proud to see that so many of the leaders within the field have already committed to the publication of the first issue of the journal."
Algal Research covers all areas of emerging technologies in algal biology, biomass production, cultivation, harvesting, extraction, bioproducts, conversion to fuels, and econometrics. The journal publishes original scientific research papers, review articles and invited commentaries from scientific community, and is fully peer-reviewed.
All articles published in Algal Research are available online through ScienceDirect; first articles in press are now freely available.
The journal is additionally available via Research4Life, the four UN programs HINARI, AGORA, OARE and ARDI that provide developing countries with free or very low cost access to information.
The first issue of Algal Research will be published in May 2012 and further introduced at the 2nd Algal Biomas, Biofuels and Bioproducts conference, which will take place in San Diego, USA on June 10-13, 2012.
