Top ten great sport women who ignited London Olympics track events

At the finals of London Olympics 100m hurdles women?s race, it was close, very close. For an agonizing moment of about three minutes, no one knew who had won and the 80,000 Olympics spectators waited in anticipation, their eyes glued on the results screen to know who had won the race.

For the millions of Australians, the waiting seemed like eternity and when the results were finally displayed on the screen, Sally Pearson dropped down weeping and ecstatic.

She had not only won the long awaited Olympic gold medal but she also set a new Olympic record of 12.35sec. USA's Dawn Harper came in second, she had dived on the line to the finish and that caused the agonizing wait to know who the winner was.

Coming to the Olympics, Pearson had won several major meets and she was the favorite at London Olympics, it therefore came as a surprise to have such a close finish. She was determined to win the gold and she got it in style.

The American team was again outstanding in 4x400m women relay where Allyson Felix emulated Wilma Rudulph and Florence Griffith-Joyner, her iconic American compatriots, in collecting a third track gold medal in one single Olympics. The wining gap was huge, almost four seconds where the Russians team came in second and Jamaicans in third.
