The nations weather (AP)

Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, January 10, 2012. The main weather feature on Tuesday will be a developing storm that will begin the day along the Texas and Louisiana border before moving northeastward through the Mississippi Valley. This will translate to widespread rain and even some thunderstorms throughout the Southeast. I would not be surprising to have some snow showers in the cold air behind the storm in the Plains, but this snow would not be widespread.

Meanwhile, a storm will move through the Northwest and Intermountain West, producing widespread and much-needed snow from Washington and Oregon through Montana. Another storm will drift down the coast of California, but only a few showers are expected along the coast. California and other parts of the West are experiencing a very dry Winter with more dry weather on the way.

The Northeast will be mostly dry, aside from some snow showers in New England in the morning and afternoon.

The Northeast will rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The Upper Midwest will rise into the 40s and 50s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 20s in the higher elevations, 40s in the lower elevations. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday have ranged from a morning low of -9 degrees at Kremmling, Colo. to a high of 81 degrees at Harlingen, Texas
